INTRODUCTION
The ever growing attention paid to the environment care and to the reducing of the atmospheric pollution has pushed the engineers of Tribotecna to develop dust detectors based on the triboelctric principle.
We have previously matured a long experience with systems based on the Photoelectric principle, at an important Firm that operated in the sector of the dust collection. The Photoelectric is a worthy system, but it is subjected to several maintenance problems of different kind, like:
- Difficulty in the optic alignment between the Projector an Receiver devices, with possibility of signal variations caused by thermal or mechanical deformations of the supports surfaces. - Spurious signals in presence of mechanical vibrations. - Necessity to drain the optic groups using dry and clean air.
On the contrary, a triboelectric probe is constituted by only one element and the installation is much easier.
The triboelectric system doesn't require any maintenance when it operates in dry processes. Only in presence of condensing humidity it needs an anti-condense device, that is constituted by a simple electric heather.
Recent applications have extended the employment of our triboelectric detectors also in presence of oily fogs and without required cleaning.
The triboelectric principle is based on the energy produced by the collision of dust particles against a metallic electrode. The intensity of this energy is proportional to the impacts speed and it depends also by the physical properties of the dust particles.
